Premiere of ‘Vacuum Instability’

The octet Vacuum Instability (2013) will be premiered at the BBC Maida Vale Studios on the 15th of March at 7pm. An ensemble formed of BBC Symphony Orchestra players and Guildhall School of Music and Drama students will perform.

Premiere of ‘Shapes’ for string quartet

The piece Shapes (2011) for string quartet will be premiered at The Forge, Camden, London, on the 20th November, by the Ligeti Quartet. This is a concert organised by the New Dots.

The new work Dégradé is going to be premiered tonight, the 5th of July, at 7h30 pm at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Music Hall by the wonderful Chroma Ensemble conducted by Christopher Austin.

1º Prémio para ‘Vectorial-modular’

A peça Vectorial-modular para orquestra ganhou o 1º prémio do VI Concurso Internacional de Composição da Póvoa de Varzim. O júri, presidido por Christopher Bochmann, e constituído por Pedro Amaral, Carlos Caires, Carlos Marecos e pelo maestro Luís Carvalho, deliberou ontem após a estreia das peças a concurso. O 2º prémio foi para a peça Sopros de um vento extinto de Osvaldo Fernandes.

The work ‘Vectorial-modular’ won the first prize of the VI International Composition Competition of Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. The juri, headed by Christopher Bochmann, and featuring Pedro Amaral, Carlos Caires, Carlos Marecos and maestro Luís Carvalho, awarded the prize yesterday after the premiere of the two competing works. Second prize was awarded to the piece ‘Sopros de um vento extinto’ by Osvaldo Fernandes.
