An important peer-reviewed article is now published in the Nova Contemporary Music Journal, volume 4, issue 1, dealing with listening in the composing process. Offering new insights into the listening faculties mobilised by composers, it advances new concepts and terminology, bridging an important gap in the literature. The article was first presented on the 5th of May 2023 at the Nova Contemporary Music Meeting.
The peer-reviewed article Introducing Sound to Animation Students is now published in CILECT’s 21st Century Film, TV & Media School – Teaching Sound: Aesthetics & Praxis book. This publication captures experience and research accumulated while working with media arts students, namely animation students.
A new text is now published by Documenta, Sistema Solar. ‘The composer facing sound reality’ (O compositor frente à realidade sonora) is featured amongst other texts on sound by fellow researchers and provides an updated view on what involves being a composer today. It analyses the historical and technical developments since the beginning of the twentieth century up to our time.
A new CD by saxophone player Ricardo Pires has been released and features the piece Wandering (2008, rev. 2022) for alto sax and electronics. It is edited by mpmp. The CD was launched at Museu Nacional da Música.
